Description: The BBC offers several free online courses in world languages. Multiple courses are offered to help students learn French – French Steps is the beginner / first-level course available.

The course is broken down into six stages, and features a vocabulary list, syllabus, learning logs to track your progress, and other tools.

Students can sign up for the Steps course with a 12-week email program offering tips and a completion certificate at the end of the program.

The six stages of the French Steps program are as follows:

Food and Drink
Country Holiday
Planning Your Time
Emergencies
