Working in another country, or for that matter volunteering or being part of any group abroad, definitely requires some cultural adjustments. I have lived, volunteered, worked, and studied in 6 countries in Latin America and have had great experiences. But I think just being open to new people, new ideas, and new customs is the number one thing. People will teach you as you go as long as you are ready and open to learn.
